The details of the Christmas are as follows:

In the afternoon of Christmas Eve there will be a Crib Service meant for young children at 4.30pm.  The service will last about 30minutes and will include a few simple carols, Christmas story, prayer and an activity suitable for very young children, (and for the young at heart).

The traditional Candlelit Carols will take place at 6pm and the First Communion at Christmas begins at 11.30am, this service is known traditionally as, `Midnight Mass'.  The church will of course be attended by many visitors to the parish and to those who perhaps never attend at any other time.  We need to make welcome all who come genuinely seeking the meaning of Christmas; it is an opportunity by a kindly word and helping hand to show the message of love.

At the 11am Christmas Day Communion Service children are encouraged to bring something they have received as a Christmas present.   There can naturally be some confusion in a young mind and indeed reluctance to bring a brand new present to Church on Christmas morning.  However, the purpose is to invite the children to the front where they can show what they have brought to the whole congregation.  It is a lovely custom much appreciated in other churches I know by those whose own families have grown up.  The 11am service given the demands of the rest of the day will finish prior to 12noon.
